Hi Matthew.

I like # 8 "Thanksgiving at Grandma's" because it has the most going on in it. Olivia's odd thumb and appendage. The coffee slowly evaporating next to the salad on the mennonite countertop, framed by custom hardwood cabinets which establish the household as a real mennonite one. grandma's sideways glance, embarrassed, recalling her self-effacing past. the careful clear plastic table "cloth" protecting the finely woven lace underneath. All of these features are foregrounded by the seasonal (bamboo?) "runner-placemat" which just moments before held the turkey and pie etc. This is an interesting image.

Jennifer likes #1 "Mom bakes bread" because it's creepy.

Many of the others are good as well. Lyric on the phone captures a certain emotive way of communicating. Christmas pictures gone awry shows us Lyric's relationship with the dog. and Dylan's relationship with hte family. The cancer center picture is also creepy as you can imagine radiation bouncing off the walls. I think though that the picture you posted earlier of Shannon and Dawn walking down the hallway at the same place was more powerful.

We read your blog even though we never comment. Mostly we want to drive up your counter as long as it stays below ours.

#4 because it is so full of action and it has that wonderful quirky perspective that leaves you feeling you are another child participating in the goings-on. I want to have been there. Austin

no pressure or anything (of course pressure) but when are you going to make another post? the anxiety caused by the perceived void of musings is accelerating my feeling of spacial seperation.

It's not fair asking to pick a favorite picture out of all those good ones. I can't decide which one is best. But these are my favorites: 2, 4, 5, & 7. I guess if I have to pick only one.... I'd pick #2. It's pretty and it has a lot of meaning for me right now.

Hi Matthew,
I don't get to check out your blog as often as I would like to but when I do I always enjoy it and usually learn something!
My vote for favorite picture would be 'Christmas pictures gone awry'. Why? because it makes me laugh and 2nd it shows life as it is..not so picture perfect!
I also have a question for darren, I would like to know what exactly is a mennonite countertop, does it wear a covering???
Sorry couldn't resist that..
